Kolbrun sees herself as a performer rather than an actor, and as such has taken on very few traditional roles. In 2013 and 2014 Kolbrún toured the UK performing her original piece Chet Baker, Love, deconstructing an auto-biographical performance in song, direct address and a great many lists. She also took the stage in Coriolanus, devising Shakespeare's play with Gareth Morgan, and in Það dansar enginn við sjálfan sig (e. Nobody Dances with Themselves), combining dance and performance in a physical theatre piece. Kolbrun is currently in spoken word and music piece (Can This Be) Home.
As for traditional acting 2013 saw Kolbrún brave the Shakespeare's Globe stage in a version of A Winter's Tale as well as taking on the role of Sebastian for a tour of Devon and Cornwall of Twelfth Night with Midsummer Madness Theatre Company. The production later got invited to The Dell Stage as part of the Royal Shakespeare Company's summer's open air performances. In her undergrad days she performed in Tímabil, a site specific devised piece at Kartöflugeymslurnar, Partíland which was part of Listahátíð í Reykjavík at Iceland's National Theatre, did a workshop performance with She She Pop and another with Gob Squad to name only a few. Kolbrún is always up for devising and would love to hear from like-minded individuals. |
